I read that the KOA is about the best cg in Boone but also one certain section not to stay in. My TT is 34ft long need full hookups & 30 amp. Is there a specific site number I should ask to get? July 25th weekend.

Actually there are several good CGs in the area. The ones closer to Boone, and easier to get to, are Honey Bear, and Flintlock. The KOA is a good bit out of town. Also the KOA sites are hilly. I would go with Honey Bear, or Flintlock.And the very best CG in the area is Raccoone Holler in Glendale Springs, Maybe 30 min up the Blue ridge Parkway from Boone.You must call any of those before you show up. Esspecially Honey Bear, and Raccoone Holler

The Boone KOA is 5 miles from downtown Boone. About a 12 minute drive. Same for Flintrock and Honey Bear. Not far at all. We have only stayed at the KOA (twice)I would recommend staying in rows C-G...H is ok, but when you get over to I, the sites get very narrow and the road to campsite can be washed out some. The first time we stayed in row I with the 35' TT we had. It was not a good place to be. I want to say it was site I6 or I7. The second time we stayed, it was around the G/H 4 area. Much better. When I called them to make the reservation, I asked them specifically not to be put in the I section and explained my concerns. They were very good about it. When I got there to check in, I walked down to the spot (2nd stay) first to see how it was. And it was ok. You mentioned going in July. KOA does have a pool, if that matters. I didn't see it mention it on the other two campground websites. The KOA also offers some kid activities as well. But of course, more than likely a little higher priced than the other two. WE will have to give the other 2 a try out this year for a weekend.

x2 wbwood. activities and area is great for kids, walking area outside park are good(up to the cemetery, etc), great employees...

It all depends on what ya want. When we are there, we don't spend a lot of time at the park itself. We let our daughter do some of the activities and play with the other kids on the playground. Otherwise, we are out and about. The people that run are great people. Beautiful location also.

We didn't like the sites at KOA very small and.very close together.Will not go back. Looking for another place as well.

The good part about KOA and the hill is that you are not looking smack dab at the side of the camper in front of you. While the sites might be narrow, having that open space above the camper in front of you makes it feel not so clausterphobic.

We have some pics posted of the first stay at the Boone KOA here. But did not take any on the second trip where the site was better.
