Consider using the BRP out of Asheville. I-40 to Asheville and then BRP to Boone. Not the fastest but more scenic. Looking at the map another option is I-40 to Morganton RT.64 to Lenoir, 321 into Boone from the south.
NO don't do this - a 5th wheel on this stretch of the Parkway this time of the year is not a good thing. If you want to see the Parkway, park the 5th wheel and use the Goldwing. You will be in the company of hundreds of other bikers.
Agree with this totally. I would do I-40 to I-81 to exit 19, in Abingdon, VA and down Rt 58 to Rt 91 and then to Rt 421.
We live about 45 miles away from Abingdon and we take our large church bus down to Boone each winter to go to the Operation Christmas Child facility. We have even driven back in the snow - not fun, but doable. Yes, there are mountains and curves, but Boone is located IN THE MOUNTAINS.
This route is about 20 minutes slower, but will be a much more enjoyable trip than the others.
