Not to disagree - as Golden Gate State Park is a great place to go - BUT - it is every bit of an Hour Plus to Boulder.
If you have a toad, you can get to Boulder by going north from the campground to CO 72 (Coal Creek Canyon) and then CO 93 to Boulder. It is shorter and faster than going back to CO 119 or down to Golden on Golden Gate Canyon Road to get to 93.
