Bryce Canyon Utah

Hey Fellow Travelers,

For those of you who have visited Bryce Canyon National Park I have some questions regarding my upcoming visit in August with our 45' motor home. I am deciding between 2 campgrounds; one is in Panguitch, The Hitch-N-Post Campground (24 miles from the entrance to Bryce N.P.) one right about a mile from the entrance to Bryce N.P. (Ruby's Inn Campground and RV Park). There is a significant price difference between these 2 campgrounds Ruby's is about $20.00/night more expensive. I would pay the higher price if there is a significant benefit to staying a mile from the entrance. We usually don't mind driving 24 miles in our car to get to a destination.

Once arriving at the entrance to the park how close is it to hiking trails? What about the visitor center? Will I need to take a shuttle? Is there ample parking inside the park?

Any information you can share with me would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.
Leslie
  • We liked Bryce Canyon Pines, which is near Bryce but still pretty quiet. But other people have not given it good reviews -- check out rvparkreviews.com. We experienced none of the problems listed on those reviews, so I don't know what to say. The campground was shady, well located, and quiet. Great stars at night -- few lights nearby, unlike Ruby's.
  • It has been several years back, but we also stayed at Bryce Canyon Pines. We actually prefer the quieter, more rural setting. If we were to go back, we would probably stay there again.

S-n-L, in looking at your previous posts it sounds like you are a FHU camper. You aught to try some boondocking as it's very comfortable with a big rig. We stay at the USFS CG at Red Canyons a little before you get to Bryce coming from Zion on 12. There is enough parking inside Bryce so I'd drive the Jeep.
If you are headed north from Bryce I take 22 north and usually stay at Otter Creek SP, especially if you stay near the entrance to Bryce.

How crowded is Bryce in late September/early October?

Not very, that's when we went.
  • Hey, God willing we will be there 10/2 for 4 nights. Don't forget to ask for the Fall Special that is on the website - full price first night and 30% off next nights for max of 5. Good like mid Sept to mid Oct.

We are coming down from a week in Capitol Reef for all the colors there and then on to the Grand Canyon.

All are repeats; we love them!!
