Bryson City North Carolina area

Just got done looking at RvParkReviews.com for the Bryson City area. Looks like some good campgrounds to consider. Looking at heading up for fall of 2017 to see some fall colors. I'm guessing about all the campgrounds reviewed would be good places to stay during the fall but was wondering if anyone has any specific recommendations on where to stay or go for the best colors? Thanks for the help.

  • What type campground are you looking for?

The Cherohala Skyway drive from Robbinsville, NC to Tellico, TN is great. Also suggest you take the Forest Service road to Bald River Falls off the Skyway near the TN end.
  • Very nice area! Have stayed at Deep Creek Campground & Tube Center. Creekside sites but sites aren't too large. Also have a section with mountain views & fewer trees with more space. Typically those sites are used by larger rigs. Friendly campground in great location. Just a mile or so from the Great Smokey Mtn Park with beautiful scenery and hiking. About a 10 min drive into town for restaurants, groceries, and the Smokey Mountain Railway which I do recommend. Very wise to plan ahead!
  • AllStays provides a better list than RPR. Here's the link to the Bryson City cgs

Just about any place in the Blue Ridge has good color. How intense it is from one year to the next varies - too much rain in August means the colors won't be as varied or bright. They've had quite a bit of rain this year. Only time will tell if it's too much. :w
