- Jerry_and_GloriExplorerI've been here since March 31st 1948 except for 2 years 11 months & 20 days when I worked for Uncle Sam 1966 to 1969. But I got to travel all over the U.S as a truck driver for 39 years. Now I get to travel all over in the 5er it just doesn't pay very good.
Jerry: In the Blue Ridge Mountains. - UNCTarHeelsExplorerI am an expatriate from NJ, in NC by choice (since 2001). After 9/11/01 I wanted out of NJ (across the Hudson from NYC). I consider myself a North Carolinian, as I graduated from the best University on the planet! I now live in the mountains near Asheville and love every minute of it.

We are sort of. We're in Charlotte living in an RV Park paying NC income tax and sales taxes. Been here since mid-January. But we're only here for another month.
In the last 8 years, we've also lived in Statesville 2005-06 and Mount Airy 2009-10. We even bought a new RV when we lived in Statesville. But it had FL plates. - Bob_VaughnExplorer

I too spent the first 18 years of my life in Greensboro ........Went in the Navy and only go back to see family and friends......Why does NC only have 5 state parks with campgrounds in the whole state...
Where do you get only 5 state parks have campgrounds? There's more than that. And theres plenty more with primitive camp sites.
The park ranger app on my iPhone only shows 5 state parks with campgrounds.... - NCWriterExplorerGew up in DC, North Carolinian by choice. My big brother was stationed at Cherry Point when he got back from Vietnam.
He met a local girl on a blind date (whose daddy was one of the four guys who put every penny they could scrape up into buying a barren 12mile stretch of sand in the 1950s, now known as Emerald Isle. Lobbied Raleigh to get the bridge built.)
So he married her and our family started renting a shack on the island for a week every summer in the early 70s. They'll all be here in June. Fourth generation now, shack is nicer.
Our late, wonderful Mom and Dad retired here. Other brother married a girl from Beaufort. We made the move five years ago. That one blind date changed a lot of lives. - noe-placeExplorerI suggest everyone who currently lives there is a North Carolina resident. :h
