California, Oregon, and Washington

I'm a life member and I have on my iPhone the Good Sam Travel Directory. I'm beginning to plan an upcoming trip up the coast but when I try to do a search for RV parks in Washington State the results come back saying none could be found.

I've checked to be sure the app doesn't require updating so that's not the problem. I'd bet a nice lunch that Good Sam has numerous listings for RV parks in Washington but the directory says there are none. What am I missing here?
  • Besides, there aren't enuff sites to go around for the local folks in the state parks whats more for the tourists. I'm not saying stay away, just aim for the private parks 'cuz you'll probably have a better chance. I love to stay in our state parks, but don't always seem to remember to make my reservations 12 months in advance.
On the other hand, it's kinda the same way when you go to Ca, but the prices are higher at the state parks than a lot of private parks, no hook-ups, a lot of them too small for the bigger rigs and there are no sites available.
  • My thanks, too, to the other folks who took the time to offer suggestions. It's much appreciated.

I loved the Washington State campgrounds when I lived up there but it's possible even for them, as well as they're maintained and designed, to have trees and other obstructions that can cause damage to a trailer. Now that I'm older I tend, for that reason, to favor privately owned RV parks over the wilder campgrounds I preferred when I was younger.
  • Hello,

We released an update for the Good Sam Camping mobile app in December - version 2.6.

The new relese fixed a bug that was causing no results on searches.

If you're not sure if your device has updated to the newest version of the app - you can delete it and reinstall from the App Store to ensure you get the latest version installed on your device.

    Thanks,

  • Don't know which app your using .. when in doubt use Google.
  • There are nice state parks in Washington, but I couldn't tell just how far north you will be visiting. Along the coast I can recommend Cape Disappointment and Grayland, Both take reservations and have loops with full hookups. There is a private park near Forks, but the name escapes me right now.

Millersylvania near Olympia is another nice park with the option of sites out in the open or in wooded areas. This park has good access to I-5, if you are taking that route one way or the other.

Check out the Washington State Parks website for availability and reservations. A lot of the campsite descriptions in the site have photos of the individual sites, too.

    Hmm.. that's not right.

Could you try reinstalling the app?
  • Could be you are on a reservation site, and the window for making reservations is not long enough to fit your schedule. I've encountered that when looking at state park websites in Utah.

That said, I have noticed that the most recent Trailer Life/Woodalls/Good Sam directory (whatever they're calling it lately) tends to concentrate on private CGs and not state parks.
