- soricobobExplorerShhh, don't post about Cedar Key! What, you want it to be crowded like the rest of the West coast?
- sweetnoniExplorerHow bout Cedar Key north of Homosassa and Crystal River.
Quaint little village right on the gulf. Google for accomodations. - wannavolunteerFExplorerHO Hum RV park in Carrabelle is right on the gulf and has a fishing pier. It isn't fancy and that area is small town "Old Florida" coast type. I don't know what their rates are, so I don't know if it is what you call inexpensive or not. Carrabelle isn't far from Tallahassee if you want to take a break from small town and do bigger town shopping/entertainment for a change.
- tatestExplorer IIHow near the Gulf, and what kind of fishing? Do you want to walk out and fish.
There's a beachy Gulf Coast fron Pensacola to Port Saint Joe, then the settled area gets away from the coast until you get down past Spring Hill, where there are again barrier islands with beaches.
Between, at Crystal River there is settlement, infrastructure, and roads a few miles out to a beach and pier, and further north there is a port on tje Gulf at Steinhatchee.
However, all through this long stretch of no Gulf settlement (the Nature Coast) the land is threaded with waterways through the low forests and wetlands, and the fishing is good. You can find some RV parks right on the water, but a small boat makes things nicer.
Fishing on the Gulf, if you want a boat on open water, then I recommend the Panhandle, or port communities of SW Florida' Tarpon Springs to Naples, for renting boats, pilots, and guides. Though the deep sea fishing is probably better in the Keys. - NORM_WADDELLExplorerIf you consider the Pensacola FL/Gulf Shores AL area,
P M me. - powderman426ExplorerTry Homasassa springs.
