Campground Reference List book

Is anyone out there familiar with a book of campsites state by state? I realize that the internet has such sites but many times I do not have access and a book would be valuable. I would want something that lists and describes the private, public, state and federal campsites such as USFS. Something just like the net sites, but you can hold in your hand! Thanks!
  • Woodall's book is a good one to have on hand, but it would be best to keep several on hand - a Woodall's, a state campground book, and a state specific one such as Idaho has to offer listing FS CG's, RV campgrounds, etc. Army Corp of Engineers also has a set of campground listings by region, or at least they used to. You can also send for a National Park Service CG's listing.
  • There are any number of such publications, Woodall's being the best known and probably most widely available. You can order any of them online, or swing by an RV store, and many private campgrounds (that have stores) and they will probably have them, too.
  • Unfortunately after the 2012 edition there is no more Woodalls Directory.
There is only Good Sam, as the two joined forces (Woodalls was bought out years ago by Affinity that owned Good Sam) For 2013 they have dropped the Woodalls Directory and only have the Good Sam.

I myself was always partial to Woodalls as the best.
  • If you are a member of AAA, they are still providing regional versions of the Woodall book (at least the last one I picked up was dated 2013). I don't like it any near as much as the old AAA Campbooks, but they are gone...

I miss the AAA camp books and recently went to AAA and was given the Woodalls instead. So if you belong to AAA or know someone who does, get the books for the areas you will be visiting. They are broken up into regions.
  • I work on the AAA/Woodall's Guides as well as the Good Sam Directory. We will again offer the Regional AAA/Woodall's Guides for 2014...available at AAA Clubs by the end of the year.

Twins89, am interested to learn what you liked better about the AAA camp book so please send me a PM with your thoughts if you have a minute.

    Thanks.
