Hello,We will be traveling from Niagara Falls to Acadia NP summer 2016 with a small travel trailer and 3 young children (9,7, & 3), and plan to spend 3 nights in New Hampshire specifically to drive to the top of Mount Washington and enjoy the White Mountains.We prefer state parks, however I cannot find a convenient one to Mount Washington. I am looking at Timberland Campground, which seems to have a lot for the kiddos to do. I'd love some suggestions and feedback from those who have camped in the area!Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Can't help with specific recommendations, but if you zoom in on RV Park Reviews' New Hampshire Map, you can see the options near Mt. Washington, which is marked on the map. Looks like there are several choices with favorable reviews, although they vary in the services/amenities offered.

Green Meadows is my choice. Nice pool, right next door to Storyland. Lots of tax free shopping in N. Conway.

We stayed at the KOA near there. The sites were set up kind of funny, back to back. There was a pool and a game room, not a bad campground. Close to the mountains.

Look at Dolly Copp. It's a NH state park and is fairly close to Mt Washington.

Dolly Copp campground in the national forest is a great place to stay and you can hike a trail through the presidential range right from the camp.

We stayed at Tally-Ho in Twin Mountain the end of July. Nice little park; Nice People. (We rode the Cog Railway to the top. I can't drive and take pictures at the same time. Tried that at Pike's Peak.)

The Lincoln area is where we always stay. Usually in a condo, but twice in the closest CG to "Clark's Trading Post". Awesome area for kids!

To see:

- Clark's Trading Post - amazing family attraction with live bear show and train ride with the "Wolfman". Kids LOVE it.
- Santa's Village - worth the drive. Really recommended! Never overcrowded.
- Storyland - we have been disappointed both times we went. Very, very, very busy all summer due to it's location to city so the lines were crazy long.
- Moose Tour - leaves from Lincoln. The guides make it fun for the kids. They show movies about wildlife, hand out "moose poop" (chocolate covered peanuts) and just generally have a rocking good time while searching for those allusive moose LOL. My 4 y/o loved it!

Have not camped there in a very long time, but we loved Glen Ellis when we tent camped. They had a decent playground for the kids, but also day trips to Story Land and Santa's Village were part of the program. We took the Cog up Mt Washington, did the Alpine Slide as well. Lots of great walking trails. Shopping in North Conway.

We loved Lost River in Woodstock. The Mt. Washington driving road is a bit of a drive from Lost River, but we enjoyed the the Fraconia Notch area as well as Kancanmagus Highway stretch towards Conway.

Lost river valley campground in Woodstock is nice. Bit of a haul to Mt. Washington, but much closer to Franconia Notch State Park. I think it took us about half an hour to get to the cog train this summer.

We also used the KOA in Twin Mountain. No, not convenient maybe, but it was a nice, easy drive and no traffic issues whatsoever. We had a site up on the hill behind the office; because of the way the sites are carved out of the hill no two sites are alike up there. The place was very clean, it was quiet and is run by great folks. Cell service & WiFi can be spotty. Enjoy & safe travels.
