Campgrounds in Charleston S.C.

Looking for a campground Nov 6-10th....James Island park is full.....I do have a reservation at Old Plantation, but was wondering if there was anything else close by to stay at that was nice. Looking for full hook-ups. Any help would be appreciated.
  • Did you add yourself to the list in case of vacancy? I have ALMOST always got a call a week or two before we were scheduled to go. It's a great place.
  • Mt Pleasant KOA is great location for Sight Seeing. Be sure to get a Dog from Cosmic Jacks.
  • We've stayed at James Island and Oak Plantation. James Island is fantastic, but Oak Plantation is also very good. You can't go wrong at either one.
  • Ditto suggestions for both Oak Plantation and Mt Pleasant KOA. They are on opposite sides of Charleston. We have stayed at both several times. James Island is GREAT, but so hard to get into. Between Oak and KOA, we prefer Oak, but you cannot lose either way. They are the 3 best options for enjoying Charleston.
  • We sure enjoyed Oak Plantation. It looked like James Island would be difficult to get into - lots of narrow streets to negotiate.
  • Hope and Wait for James Island. It was fantastic. Sites were easy pull thru s
  • I would stay at Mt Pleasant KOA before returning to Oak Plantation. More for my son to do and the sites are larger. However Oak Plantation is nice if you need to be on that side of Charleston.

I'll be at James Island County Park that weekend. We booked our sites last year. Good luck. That is the week they start the Holiday Festival of Lights.
  • Once James Island turns the Holiday lights on be at your campsite, as the traffic is VERY heavy and slow.
