I know there aren't any campgrounds in Pittsburgh, but does any one know anything that's close. My husband will be working at Pittsburgh and wants to take the 5 th wheel. thanks.
I lived in Pittsburgh for 15 years and I had to goggle where the "Forbes Substation" is to see it is downtown near the country jail.
Pittsburgh is a tough area to camp in and commute to the city. There are a very limited number of campgrounds in the metro area and then traffic is always bad getting downtown. If he is working non-traditional work hours, the drive will be easier.
Raccoon State Park or the KOA are the best alternatives. I would get their addresses and then map the drive time. The state park doesn't have sewers.
This might be too far for you, but we spent almost 2 weeks at Raccoon Creek State Park which is NorthWest of Pittsburgh. It worked well for us. Nice large level spot, good facilities, shopping nearby, and quite peaceful. It was a bit of a drive every day to go into Pittsburgh, but nothing really onerous. Could not argue about the cost either!
