I agree WV has there share of gems as well. Don't let the access scare you away. overall WV ios no worst than any of the rest. Yes they have a few narrow roads but so does everyone else. - jnharleyExplorerThe WV state parks we have checked out were beautiful but the roads getting there were scary.

Virginia State Parks do not charge a pet fee any more but they do charge extra for those visiting out of state. They have wonderful state parks that your 5th wheel will fit in, Pocahontas Sate Park is our favorite along with Shenandoah River State Park. We have trouble finding adequate places to stay in WV especially state parks. Many of them are on twisty narrow roads that are not suitable for our 37 ft 5th wheel. We are generally just transiting through the state so we stay at commercial campgrounds.
Thanks for the info regarding the WV state parks. That is just the kind of help I was looking for. Appreciate it and happy travels! - jnharleyExplorerVirginia State Parks do not charge a pet fee any more but they do charge extra for those visiting out of state. - camper19709ExplorerAll the Delaware State Park Campgrounds are nice.
- NoVa_RTExplorerIf you like the beach, Assateague State Park (just south of Ocean City, MD) is pretty good - miles of beach shared by relatively few campers. Only one loop has electric, so reservations are a must, and you need to go online as soon as sites become available. There's an adjacent Federal Park, but it doesn't have any hookups. Still worth a visit even if you're at the State Park.
- Fleet_ManExplorerX2 on Cordous. We stayed there a few years ago and used it as home base for Gettysburg, DC, Baltimore area visits/touring.
- bukhrnExplorer IIIIt Was true, but Va. Dropped the per pet fee, presumably due to complaints of pet owners.
We weren't happy with this added fee either, but that's not why we don't use our state parks, we find that we get better deals at COE parks, which are as good or better than the State parks. - BumpyroadExplorerbut it's gotta be true, he read it on the internet.
