Campgrounds near Madison, Wisconsin

Hello all, my wife and I are taking a trip to Madison, Wisconsin in mid-August to visit our eldest son who now lives there. We're going to be there for about 5-6 days, so we decided to take our TT. We're looking for a nice campgrounds with full hookup capability.

I can (and will) search the internet for some locations, but as always I know this place will give me some real answers.

Thanks for any help!
  • We've stayed at the Madison KOA, which is actually in DeForest just north of Madison. Sites were nice and not as close together as some other KOA's. Easy in and out from the interstate. I don't remember hearing much interstate traffic when we were there either. Cheese shop next door for fresh cheese curds.
  • I have stayed at the "Lake Farm" county park. Very nice and clean park, its on the south side of Madison. Mendota park is on the north side. Check them out at dane county parks.
  • There are numerous campgrounds around Madison. too many to recommend. search RV Park Reviews for Madison campgrounds. it will be way more helpful (and faster) than the little bit of info we can offer!

Devil's Lake SP near Baraboo is very nice, maybe 40 minutes away though.
  • I'd recommend Mendota County Park. It is not full-hook up, but they have a dump station. It is right on the lake and fairly convenient to get to downtown Madison. Lake Farm park is also pretty good, but the morning rush hour traffic going east to west is a hassle. Tracy
  • South of Madison about 30 min. The Milton area has 3 nice CGs with full hookups. Right off the interstate on a lake.
