Have made reservations at Denver East/ Strasburg KOA
Actually Cherry Creek SP (24 miles) is closer to DIA than Strasburg is (32 miles - 29 if you know the back roads). Strasburg KOA doesn't hold a candle to Cherry Creek.
I live near Strasburg and have never been impressed with the KOA. I camp several times a year at Cherry Creek as we put the boat on the lake there. If you stay at the KOA there is a very good barbecue place right near the entrance - it's very small but has a good reputation. In Bennett, 5 miles to the west you might like the High Plains Diner - my favourite breakfast place. - strongbadExplorerMight want to look at St Vrain State Park if you're headed north. I-25 and hwy 119. Full hook ups available.

Anyway - the Strasbourg location is about as close to DIA as there is!
(formerly resident in Aurora- adjacent to Cherry Creek SP!) - Dennis_M_MExplorerCherry Creek has full hook ups and is the best bet in the Denver area. Easy drive on interstate from the airport. There is also a KOA about 30 miles east on I-70, never been there.
We stop in Cherry Creek regularly, big 80' pull throughs and quiet. $24 a night, plus $7 vehicle pass. We get an annual vehicle pass for $73 to eliminate the daily fee since we hit here a couple of times a year to visit family. Sitting in Cherry Creek right now, 8" of fresh snow this morning!
On edit - others were quicker than I was! - BettyBoop7ExplorerThanks for the replies. I knew where to go for help God bless
- BettyBoop7ExplorerHave made reservations at Denver East/ Strasburg KOA
- Dottie5ExplorerI live just outside of Denver. After you pick your friends up from the airport, which direction are you ultimately going? Cherry Creek is a nice park, I've never camped there, but it's not that easy to get to from DIA. A lot of traffic and road construction on I225 towards the park.
Closer and easier might be the KOA in Strasburg. It would be east of DIA. Not sure how far east. Or stick with the Meadows RV park in Aurora. Cherry Creek is in the middle of very populated and commercial area.
ETA: Didn't see you were headed up to South Dakota. I think I'd stick with KOA Strasburg or your meadows rv park in Aurora. - BettyBoop7ExplorerCherry Creek does have sewer. The campsite we need for the night is just a place to stay to sleep. We will be leaving the next morning for South Dakota, weather permitting. If bad weather, we will go to Kansas, which is Plan B Is there anything closer to airport. We will be dealing with a nine month old so trying to not have to travel a long way at night

Yup, Cherry Creek SP has full hookups, in the Abilene Loop. THE best place to consider on the east side of the Denver Metro area.
Cherry Creek SP Abilene Loop - voyage05ExplorerYou may want to consider KOA at Strasburg.
