First time visiting Glacier N.P. this summer. Would like recommendations as to which town "you" prefer & what campground. Is Kalispell "too far"" from the park. We will be in a 30' 5er and prefer FHU. Thanks for any info you veteran campers can give. Will visit the east side of park after camping on the west side. Any suggestions for campgrounds in that area. Again, thanks.

IMO, Kalispell is a little far from the park, certainly given the number of decent CGs that are closer. If you also want to visit Kalispell itself - perhaps have friends/relatives there - it could be a good choice, but why drive 20-25 miles when you only need to drive about 5 or less to get into the park, if that's the focus of your visit? We liked the KOA in West Glacier, though would have preferred it to be more wooded than it is. Haven't stayed elsewhere in the area but a couple other parks looked nice and get good reviews (on rvparkreviews).

We have stayed several times in Hungry Horse at Mountain Meadow RV park. It has been nice and clean, sites fairly private, and pretty grounds. Only downside is IF you are in front, you might hear road noise during day.

Love, love, love Apgar just inside the park! Downside is no utilities, but worth it in my opinion. I don't believe you are able to reserve a site, but we have always been able to get a spot. I believe there is a calendar somewhere that shows the time the campground has filled up in the past.

X2 for Mountain Meadows in Hungry Horse.Many sites to choose from.Located on the West side of Glacier National Park.

Another vote for Mountain Meadows in Hungry Horse. One of our favorite campgrounds. That would definitely be our choice again. No need to be further away.

We really liked staying in Kalispell! We used Rocky Mtn Hi CG twice - reasonably priced, nice facilities, NOT too far from the park... ST
