Has anyone camped at the Disney campground in Florida?We are looking into the possibility of making a trip down there in the TT. I looked at it with 9 mpg (coming from the Toronto, Canada) and it will actually be a pretty cheap vacation to Disney.What did you like, not like? How was the drive? (from where you came from). What did you pay? I am looking for as much information as possible.

If you are asking about Fort Wilderness, it is well known as one of the nicest campgrounds out there. You will pay anywhere from $90+ depending on the month. I just drove that route (coming back from Niagara Falls) easy ride, just try to stay away from the big city areas during rush hour. Just make your way to I-95 and go from there. Google the forum "fort friends" there is everything you could possibly want to know on that forum. Very clean, friendly campground, the only thing I would say is that the sites are a little on the narrow side. But, the most expensive sites,, do have some room.

Ft. Wilderness is a great campground, sites are clean and well maintained. Bathroom/Shower facilities are excellent. Very easy to get to any Disney park, attraction via bus, or boat. You can rent a golf cart and go all over the campground or down to the boat dock, restaurant. Don't be thinking about making a campfire though.

Heading there again in a week... without the TT. The drive is really easy if you go I75, as stated avoid rush hour, Cincinnati and Atlanta are the ones to avoid on I75. We normally drive on the weekend and split between 2 days. We start the first days drive in the middle of the night and make it past Atlanta by dinner. The kids usually sleep until Dayton and night driving and crossing the border is so easy because there are no cars on the road. Than 2nd day is only about 6 hours drive. If you do Fort Wilderness with the park passes, meal plan etc, you can save around $1000 to $2000 vs a room at Disney. Fort Wilderness also has a boat dock where you can take the boat right to Magic Kingdom and avoid the hassle of parking, tram, Monorail/Ferry...Fort Wilderness really is the Disney World of campgrounds :)

I was just there for 9 days in June. You can have a campfire you just have to have a approved fire pit basically a hard bottom and top and a screened in sides. They do have a campfire with marsh mellows, hot dogs (for a fee) and a movie every night with Chip and Dale that is free. Yes you can bring your own food and sticks to do the roasting. Limited mobility inside the campground bikes, golf carts(which you can rent from WDW for 65.00 a day or get a outside company but WDW is starting to crack down on that some) or internal buses. No where to drive your vehicle and park. Cable TV and WIRED internet are included in the deal. You will need a modem kit from the store for that though. I heard stories of long waiting list for the modem kit I got one on my first day there and I brought my own WiFi router and we had WiFi in the camper. The preferred loops 100, 200 and 300 are closest to the marina that is where were site 103. The do on occasion have AAA discount you got to ask. It was worth for me to join AAA for the discount. Very neat pool. One thing though better make your ressies soon it fills rather quickly. Like some else said fort fiends and the disboards are 2 great places for research! It is a great place I loved it there.
