Camping I-81 South of Binghamton NY

Heading out on a spring trip in 10 days for no. carl. will be traveling down the I-81 to roanoke va. first night probably near wilkes-barre pa. and night 2 near lexington va. any suggestions of campgrounds or wal-marts, thanks..........ss

    There is a Petro at the Dupont/Pittston exit 178B. Nice travel plaza. Has the buffet.

    Haven't been there in quite a while, but I know the Petro in Dupont, PA (exit 178B) used to have electric overnight spots for a few $. 570-654-5111

    If you're taking I-84 to get to I-81, you could take US 209 down the Del. Water Gap instead and stop at Pocono KOA in E. Stroudsburg. Then take I-80 to Harrisburg to hook up with I-81.

    Not many campgrounds in that area close to 81, so options listed so far are the most realistic.

    Big Mall right off 81 in Wilkes-Barre.
    Further north there is a flying J at Gibson Pa
    Furter North a rest area/welcome center at Halstead PA
    as well as the casino referenced above

    Mohegan Sun Casino allows overnighting. It's just off I-81 at Wilkes Barre/ Scranton.
    We have used it in the past. No problems.
