Camping in Arizona

Lake Havasu State Park in Lake Havasu City has huge sites near the lake. 30/50 amp service, water, dump station and marina. A favorite go-to for the wife and me.

Many prefer to be out away from the city crowds! Everyone has their likes and dislikes and various interests. We love the area around Tombstone Territories. Kartchner Caverns, Ft. Huachuca, wineries, Tombstone, Fairbanks ghost town etc. Just depends on what you like.

I think your choice would also depend on how long you plan to stay. Most government campgrounds be it federal, state, or local have stay limits of usually no more than 14 days.

You might look at Butterfield RV resort in Benson, az. Paved roads, gravel double wide spaces, cable TV and good sat. reception. Room for RV, motorcycle trailer, car, and 2 Harleys.

Most of the really nice parks in Arizona are the State parks, the Regional parks, or the County parks. Depending on where you want to be or where you want to go, you should google that county or region, and look at what's available in your State park search, and pick one. The downside to that is, so is everyone else, and the parks usually fill up fast. Most have dump stations, and are located near areas of interest, but have the wide open space feel to them.

If you're out here in the summer or early fall, I recommend Fool's Hollow campground near Show Low, Canyon Point campground on the Mogollon Rim, and Apache Trout campground by Big Lake.

It really depends on your interests as stated.

Catalina SP in Tucson is really great but, as has been said, you need reservations well in advance and, if on a weekend, nearly all year long. Have not been to Tombstone Territories but it is out in the boonies and, once you have seen the tourist attractions there is not much going on. I would use caution about Justin's and some of the other parks in that area of Tucson.

Just north of Phoenix and handy to the city: Lake Pleasant Regional Park

We always use the awesome state parks or the Phoenix area's Maricopa County Parks. They all have huge scenic sites. Tucson's Gilbert Ray county park is also great.
