We considered the KOA but wanted to be closer to Fairborn. A Google search turned up REI Lakes in Springfield, which we found to be to our liking. In fact, it was my favorite overnight of the trip.
My suggestion for the closest campground to Fairborn would be Dayton Tall Timbers KOA.
KOA to Fairborn or Springfield to Fairborn are very similar drives... Just opposite directions on 70

My suggestion for the closest campground to Fairborn would be Dayton Tall Timbers KOA. - rbtgloveExplorerIf you cannot stay at the Base Fam Camp you will probably have to drive at least 15-20 minutes from either John Bryant in Yellow Springs or the KOA. There is a Trailer Park in the middle of Fairborn that at one time would take short stays, don't think they do anymore. Yellow Springs is a nice little town and the State Park is OK if you can get electric -been very hot and humid recently.
- The_KrocExplorerJohn Bryant State Park is very close to Fairborn and is in a very scenic area of Ohio near Yellow Springs Ohio. We we're there back in October. They only had a few electric sites though, but a contractor who was surveying the sites told me they we're going to add more electric sites soon. Not sure if they did. If you are military, check to see if Wright Patterson Air Force Base has a CG.
- midnightsadieExplorer IIis there a fair grounds in fairborn? most will let you over night.
- tracyb-ohExplorerBuck Creek State Park is closer to Fairborn than Hueston Woods ,Cesars Creek or Cowan Lake. John Bryant State Park is very close to Fairborn in Yellow Springs. As for no campfires, good luck with that. All the state parks allow them. I don't know of any that do not.
- camperforlifeExplorerNot much around Fairborn and pretty impossible to find no campfires. I believe you will be at Houston Wood which is only 40 minutes away. Dayton KOA is about that far as well. Winton Woods in Cincy is nice but further. Ceasors Creek and Cowan Lake are nice as well but further than Houston Woods.
- Loving_God_s_CoExplorerMy suggestion for the closest campground to Fairborn would be Dayton Tall Timbers KOA. We haven't stayed there but many have highly recommended it.
