Camping near King's Island or Hershey Park Recommendations?

Family of four coaster enthusiasts / thrill riders seeking adventure looking to try either Kings Island OH or Hershey Park PA. Would like to camp nearby.

Any experience or recommendations? Park oriented so camp amenities aren't a huge issue. We camped Cedar Point last year and loved it. Campground is tight with a no campfire rule but walking to park and early admission (and ability to jaunt back to camper for rest and lunch) was well worth it.

I was able to use the search feature to find some info on Hershey's Highmeadow Campground. Not much on King's Island.

I second Winton Woods. It's not real close to KI, but it's a very nice county park. It's on the north side of Cincy, a bit west of I75. We stay there when we go visit our son.

I suspect you will be a bit dissapointed with Kings Island having been to Cedar Point first. I know we were.
  • Thanks all!!!

    Very helpful!

I like the look of some of the state parks near KI - but the lure of early admission calls as well.

    Off to do some research!
  • Cedar Brook is 8 miles from Kings Island. I live in the area, so I don't know anything about the CG, but they advertise their proximity to KI. KI has added a bunch of new "Thrill" rides since the last time I was there several years ago. These days, waking up is a thrill. :)
  • There are several OH St Parks not to far from Kings Island, Stone LIck and East Fork are closet but we like Rocky Fork best but a little further out. All have at least Electric and Water.

X2. You can just take shuttle bus from CG to park.
    No parking fees to pay!

  • Hershey Park - Hershey Highmeadow Campground. Can't help you with Ohio.
