Camping Recommendations in WV off I77 near Charleston

We're going to be traveling through West Virginia along I77 from Blue Ridge Parkway up toward Akron / Cleveland. We'd like to stop along the way for an afternoon & night somewhere not too far off of ...

Charleston and the Kanawah State Forest, as a half-way point is a little short or a little long. Government options are, Lake Stephens, a Raleigh county park about 9 miles west of Beckley or the Exhibition Coal Mine campground, a Beckley city park on Ewart Ave. Further past Charleston, next closest SP to I-77 would be Wolf Run SP in Caldwell, OH.
