So, we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary than to ditch the kids for a vacation. Well, that vacation turned into an 8 day/1906 mile camping trip between Pennsylvania and Georgia. We spent the first 2 days exploring West Virginia and Virginia and would have loved to spend many more there. Checkout the below video to see the start of our anniversary adventure as we tried to squeeze as much of Harpers Ferry, WV and Buchanan, VA in as we could. https://youtu.be/g3K6NkrvZJwHarpers Ferry was a last minute addition and we enjoyed it so much we're already planning a return trip with the kids. Keep an eye out for the next part of our trip, Tennessee and Georgia. We have tons (76.6GB to be exact) of awesome footage that we'll be editing this week thanks to our new camera and drone.

Congrats !!! It's great to get away without the young ones every now and then. But then again you tend to miss them as they get older and find their own place in the world. You picked a great region to see as well, we love Harpers Ferry area, the fact that we are only a little bit more than an hour away makes it an easier tri for us. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!!

What a great time to reflect - camping as a couple.This is the first year my wife and I have camped a few times without our teenage boys with us. Most camping trips we took the boys and dogs, but three times we went alone and had a really great experience.We're going to miss our boys when they grow a little older and are out on their own, but it's nice to get a taste of what camping will be like with just the two of us.

We were just in Gettysburg in July and stayed at Pine Grove Furnace SP, but it was a bit of a drive to Gettysburg. We'll need to checkout Drummer Boy when we head back. Thanks for the tip!

We love Pine Grove Furnace. We have stayed there several times. A few other Pa state parks we have enjoyed are Locust Lake,Ricketts Glenn and Promised Land,Pickeral Point Campground.

Check out campsite photos for pictures of all many state campgrounds as well as quite a few private campgrounds.

Our younger son is 16 and has autism. One of the reasons we bought our TT two years ago is to get him out of the house to enjoy socializing with others in our beautiful part of the country. He has turned out to be a great traveler. Although he needs some front-loading and encouragement to leave the house on most trips, he always comes home and says he had a lot of fun. It's all we can hope for.

Camping is BY FAR the best decision we've made as a family. The memories & experiences we've had together have been amazing.

We found ourselves using FaceTime to show the kids all the cool stuff we were doing. We were able to connect with them from a riverboat, the edge of a cliff, a waterfall, and a log house at the peak of a mountain. It's nice getting away as a couple, but we still missed sharing the experiences with the kids.

Super cool guys, thanks for the share. I enjoy it without the kids but always feel bad once we get there. Mine are just about all grown but I do have 19 year old that has Autism that loves it and will be my life time camping partner and my GF had a daughter with downs that is warming up to it. She isn't sold on it but each time we go she shows more and more interest. The memories I have of taking my kids camping since they were infants are very valuable to me and its a part of life that sadly many children never get to experience.
