Can we expect these shenanigans?

I think many of us have observed the airline industry finding a myriad of ways to charge new fees for many things that used to be included in the ticket price.

Now hotels (according to the nightly news) are starting to do the very same thing.

So can we expect that campgrounds may also start this, which won't show up in the advertised price but will be shocking upon check-in or check-out?

If this does happen, I hope that it gets posted here.

The resort fee included admission to the "bouncy room" and a pancake breakfast. We wanted neither and but they wouldn't let us opt. out.

    Jellystone Parks do this, too.
  • OK, lets be specific about each campground, please. Of course some campgrounds in a single organization may charge differently, so lets call out the actual offenders. Name and shame, I say. I don't like these kind of surprises.

My wife and I had a similar experience with a KOA. Although we're both in our 50s, camped with no kids and skipped their breakfast, we still had to pay the resort fee. By the way, it was late September and no one was using the bouncy thing anyway!

Camped last weekend at another cg. We had a couple come up to join us to tour a winery and dinner by the fire. They used absolutely no services but were forced to pay $12 each to be there for a few hours.

  • I have experienced some KOA"S already doing this. One I stopped at, added for the dog, for the kids, for use of the A/C, for use of the swimming pool, and believe it or not, for the bathrooms and showers. The entrances had a push button access door knob and we paid for the access code.
