It's pretty surprising where Canada Geese will sit. We have a major problem on our golf course with Canada geese nesting in the trees each spring.
Naturally the hatch broods return the next year and there is an exponential explosion in the goose population trying to tree nest each year.
The maintenance staff now have to destroy the nests as soon as they spot them in order to control the population .
Thanks, I guess I never saw that before. In my part of the world geese will attempt to nest at ground level surrounded by something (i.e. water) that will discourage predators. I've never known of, or seen a goose nest in a tree.
ON EDIT:
Did some searching and came up with this Clicky
Does say "•Other nest sites include planter boxes and nesting structures provided specifically for geese."
I would have never have guessed they did that.
