Canadians- buy an RV in the US and leave it there ?

I would like to buy a trailer in the US and NOT bring it back to Canada. I plan on storing it there in the summer and using it each winter. I'd like to know about paying sales tax, what about registering it there, what do you do about a US address and anything else you can suggest.

  • Sure you can. You will pay sales tax in the location you register the trailer. We just use the address of our Rv park for registration. The suggestion above would work also, IMHO.
  • set up an address at one of the outfits in Sioux Falls S.D. where you can also license and title it. might have an issue because of border security, etc. now days however. plenty of previous threads on this.
