We live in Ontario. We had non RVing guests this weekend who usually go
to Florida for a month and stay in a condo. They have decided not to go this year as they are worried about the amount of gun violence south of the border. Last week some RV friends also expressed the same concern and decided with our low dollar and all that is going on, they feel safer staying home.
Being Canadians we are not armed and try to be cautious about where we go, etc. Hearing others say they are avoiding the US just now got me wondering if this is a sign of the times and how many others have the same worry about their safety. Violence is nothing new, but it does seem to be getting worse.
So are you coming down this year? Your post only refers to others you know.
We got to Florida a couple days ago. The only thing "more scary" than previous years is the way a $100 Visa charge ends up on your statement at about $140.. :S
Ya either suck it up or stay home.
In my opinion, anyone using the "I'm too scared to go" excuse is really just a cheapskate, or doesn't want to admit they can't afford it. If someone can't float the funds to go then they will have to stay home this year.
But really! Don't blame it on being scared, That's just silly.
