Catalina State Park, Tucson AZ

Can anyone tell me how difficult it might be getting reservations on short notice probably in February. We're taking our time, and letting weather dictate our travel plans and don't want to be held down to a long term reservation. Thanks in advance

  • Thank all. I read about the Gem show and wondered if that would have an impact. So since DH isn't a fan of crowds, guess we will just bypass Tucson or maybe return at a later date Thanks again
  • Would be like winning the lottery to get a reservation in Feb. You would have to catch it at a cancellation. First come, first serve is iffy and leaves you with not many great options if it does not pan out....have to look around but you might find something in Tucson....but Feb is Gem Show time so could be tough.
  • Not difficult, impossible. Not only are the State parks the best campgrounds in the area in which they are located, but, specifically, Tucson in February is overrun with The Gem and Jewelry Show. You would be lucky to get a reservation in February anywhere in Tucson.
  • There are first come sites available every day. We pulled in at 8am one morning and had a spot by 10 am, that was in mid march it was full.

  • I tried the reservation service for a two-wk Feb stay and found nothing available. I have a 25-ft motorhome so I don't require anything special to be happy.

Not sure if I tried too early or if all is taken.
