Catskill Mountain area campgrounds

Co-worker asked me about campgrounds in the Catskill Mtns. Truth be told, I drew a blank. Only place that came to mind was 1 near Hunter Mountain, but didn't know the name as it was back in the 80's I was there w/ some friends. So I told my co-worker that I'd ask to see what comes up. few questions I had for him were: F/H or W/E, how big of RV (28' TT), what was he looking for.

Pretty much names will suffice w/ some brief comments about them, he can do the rest of research.

TIA,

AC

    ACZL,

I think the campground your thinking of is North/South Lake state pk near Hunter Mtn. It's a beautiful park, but dry camping only and not bigger rig friendly. I just returned back from this park 2 days ago and ripped off my TV antenna while backing in. Had to tape a cereal bowl over the housing to keep the rain out!

I honestly don't remember. All I recall is it was near Hunter Mtn as I arrived around 2am via car, went to Hunter Mtn music fest., 1984 time frame. Stayed w/ friends in their 5er. Knew really nothing about RV's 'cept I loved the 5er's!!!! Never went back after this visit.

Thanks for the replies all. Will pass them on.
  • RipVanWinkle Campground in Saugerties, NY has nicely wooded sites and full hookup. It's the only campground I've stayed at that has digital HD cable at the sites, which is great if weather has you stuck in the camper watching TV.

  • A round Livingston Manor and Roscoe there are three SP's. Some private, Pleasant Valley, Butternut CG and Roscoe CG depends what he is looking for and what part of the Catskill's he wants to go, it's a really big area.
  • If your co-worker likes State Parks, Glimmerglass State Park near Cooperstown is very nice. Electric hookup only though so use of the fresh water tank and dump station would be necessary.
  • We really like Yogi on the River in Gardiner NY

Big Rig friendly and lots and lots of amenities.
