I have gone at least 12 times in my life, but haven't been back in several years.
Honestly, unless you have teenagers, it's not that fun for kids simply because the lines are so long that they get bored and lose interest. The newest coasters will likely have a 3 hour wait. My friend's 13 year old boys went there in July. From open to close they rode 3 coasters due to the line length. If you have younger kids, it might be better to find a smaller more local park. It's just so busy.
We actually take a longer trip to a different park just because the kids only have to wait 30 minutes, or in some cases, not at all to get on a ride.
We went last year right after 4th of july and surprisingly it was not crowded. We were there from sun. through wed. We left on thurs. a.m. What i have heard is that other than holidays, thurs-sun are the busy days.
I agree, We did a mid summer, Sunday through Wed stay. Stayed at Light House Point some years ago, lines at the park were not to bad.
Plus being able to get in the park 1 hr earlier than the day trip people, we were able to do all the most popular rides.
