Cedar creek quality?

Welp, I think I will hold off trading my 2012 for a new unit for a while. I don't want more headaches. I have worked the bugs out of my existing unit so why invite more....

Because they are being bought faster than they can build them. Which means that your bound to have increased shoddy workmanship coupled with the stock owners incessant demand for higher/quicker profits leads to cheaper components/building techniques.

We had a Coachmen Chaparral an traded it for a KZ G384RLT, we had some flaws like any other brand. What I can say is last summer at the Kz rally we seen the Lippert crew at work an they were right on the ball an fixed anything and everything that owners complained about without question ...

There was another rally following our's an the same crew was there to fix their products, again without question they worked with owners. People complain about LCI product an the do make 95 percent of the RV frames an allot of products for RV's, but I have to say seeing their crews in action they do stand behind their product from what I have seen 1st hand ...

We also saw the MorRyde tech do the same thing, we as well toured the MorRyde plant an saw 1st hand them building some of their products including steps, axles an a few other things, what I didn't know was MorRyde builds 600 different products ...

More an more all of the MFG's are starting to pay attention to their customer base for a number of reason, the problems is the Dealers not the MFG's, many dealers have to sell multiple name brands to stay alive, thus they are overwhelmed in the early spring an summer months with buyers doing PDI's of new trailers, owners wanting to get ready for camping season an so on... Thus they spend less inspection time on new units coming in an let the customer fine the flaws. If you miss something on your PDI it may take 2 or 3 months to get back in for a repair. Also warranty wor't pay anything like those customers who are paying thought the noise for repair thus allot of the times warranty work is put on the back burner's ...

So my point here is that I don't care what brand you buy the dealers are the one's that can make or brake a brand, bad dealer, bad brand, good dealer good brand ...

Example we love our 5th wheel an we have seen the factory people back in Indiana support us an other Kz brand owners 150 percent, our dealer is another story, if we could 15 percent service out of them we would be happy ...

Example, furnace stop working a month after we bought the 5th wheel in January, called dealer, was told they could fit us in sometime in June at the soonest ... We called Kz Customer service, the said call Suburban who made the furnace, we were sent to a Suburban service center 8 miles away at another RV dealer an problem was fixed in less than a week ... Was it Kz MFG fault that our furnace went out, no it was a bad board that went south, our dealer could have told use the same thing, but did they, no ...

So you may like Cedar Creek, an we have friends that like them an we also have friends that hate them, but they both bought from different dealers an the one who hates Cedar Creek also hates the dealer because of bad service :(

...getting back on topic....our signature Silverback is in great shape today and we plan on buying another in the next year or 2. The wide bodied units had a design flaw which led to structural damage in the front. Lippert fixed it at no cost, and then the folks at Cedar Creek fixed the internal damage at NO costs to us....it's better now than when it was new. They also threw in a few other freebies including a new trailair hitch, stairs, and replaced all my slide seals...oh, shipping to the factory was free....we opted to go pick it up to see the factory....and meet Denise Davis and her crew!

When you produce units under the philosophy of get 'em out the door as fast as possible', attention to detail goes south. Getting a good one versus a bad one is a crapshoot. Your next one might be a gem but it might be a turd too.

I do not agree with this statement at all. Their philosopy of "getting them out as soon as possible" is false. They have a focus on detail. The workers work in as a unit on one job.

Sounds like a paid advertisement to me. You work for one of the builders maybe?

I've been to the Indiana plants and not on a guided tour either, just dropping in unannounced and I can see what goes on and it's not attention to detail either. It's get it done as fast as possible and punch out and go home...

You don't have to agree but then maybe you need to go and observe, or maybe you do already...:h

We have a Cedar Creek built in 2011, and love it. We have been full timing for 8 years. We have had several problems but nothing major.
I would rate Forest River units as excellent product. We have visited the factory (in Topika,IN) several times and the Forest River units are quality built. Workers at the factory are happy and the turnover rate is small.
You might consider the Silverback. It is made the same line as the Cedar Creek, but the with different amenities.
One of the best pluses with the Forest River is that their customer service is excellent.
