Central Florida Winter Propane Usage numbers.

As a snowbird, on average, how much propane do you use per month while wintering in Central Florida? I know the amounts will vary a lot depending on temperature but I'm just looking for general numbers of what you've used in past years. I'm trying to figure out a budget for next year. Thank you!
  • We burn about 10 gallons and that is for the floor heaters. We do not use the propane stove or Hwh on propane. Our electric fireplace is enough heat for most days. There has been only about two weeks of the furnaces needing to run hard over the last 5 years.
  • We have wintered in Florida the last 6 years. We usually stay 6 weeks to 2 months. I make sure the tanks are full when we leave home and have never had to buy propane when we are away. Usually takes 1 tank or less. We have an electric fireplace and a small electric heater and they are usually enough and don't need the furnace except going from Kansas 1 night and 1 night coming home. We run our water heater on electric and have a gas stove and oven.

Depends how many people you have showering that would use the propane for the hot water tank.

I use an electric space heater for cold days. I haven't turned on my furnace in over 6 years!

And I do ALL my cooking outside with small bottle propane stove.

Did over 2 snowbird trips on one tank of propane!

It will be just me and my wife. Our hot water tank heats with either propane or with electric so likely the propane will be used for the furnace and the stove/oven on occasion. Many meals will be cooked using our Weber Q.

In the Daytona area we used 26 gallons in three months. Cost was $4.10/gal to have it filled.

    That's not unreasonable at all!
