CG Custer, SD

We are heading our way back East from a cross country RV trip. We will be going near Custer, SD and would like to know of any good CG in the area to stay at that will take big rigs and are dog friendly. We hope to stay about 7 days, as I understand there is a lot to see in the area.
Any suggestions. I would like it as close to I-90 as possible.
  • I will add we were up there a week ago and stayed at Buffalo Ridge. It is the old Flinstones place. they are redoing it and it is really pretty nice and lots of room for big rigs and dogs. Because they are new they might still have spots left.

I could not find there website but ended up booking through this black hills vacations site. not the best deal but it is an option.

  • We've stayed at Beaver Lake & Custer's Gulch. Liked them both, but think I'd put them in order of preference - 1. BL 2. CG

From an older post - Custer CG
  • If you are going to be there soon, you may not find anything as the Stirgis Rally is going on for the next two weeks...everything sold out
  • I90 isn't that close to Custer..... You need to go a bit further south down 16 or you will wind up driving a TON.
  • There are more campgrounds out there than you realize, they just dont get online for whatever reason, which makes our lives difficult.

I can confirm, Rafter J's is very nice and had everything we desire in a campground, while being very near every popular site in the are. But there were plenty more we saw that looked nice...just so hard to find if you're not actually there!
  • Custer's Gulch campground. Very nice, clean and friendly folks running it.
