Apparently, things have changed, but when we were there hoteling it, the gambling floors of the casino/hotels were actually on barges separate from the hotels. There was a wide ramp up to the gambling floor where we stayed. We only noticed it because the ramp's elevation changed a couple of times during the day due to the tides. My map shows some casinos well away from the Gulf now.
