CG in southwest Indiana

Has anyone out here knows of any CG in southwest Indiana? And what was your experience :?

Thank you in advance!!
  • Most of them have long pads. Some are very long. The shorter ones have a separate place to park the tow. If you go to recreation.gov and click on different sites it will show you photos. Our favorite is probably South Marcum, and next would be Gun Creek. South Marcum borders "Party Cove", so you have a lot of boat action. It's no-wake so engine noise isn't a problem. Benton is close to South Marcum, so easy to go to town for supplies. I'm afraid I have a lot of pics of Rend but not a lot that show the whole camp pad. Keep in mind that I don't usually back all the way back...because I don't have to. That leaves me a sitting area.
Here is site 85, South Marcum: (separate space for truck)

Across from that site is 91:

    The state park:

I have some of Gun Creek, but mostly the yard space and not the pad. Most sites give you plenty of space.
  • I went to rend lake website, which campground is the best for a larger travel trailer?
  • We live an hour west of Evansville, IN.

Directly across the river from Evansville is John J. Audubon State Park in Henderson, KY, a long-time favorite of ours.

Burdette Park in Evansville has camping and other activities

Spencer, IN, has McCormick's Creek State Park, which is wonderful.

We also love Lincoln State Park and Lake Rudolph near Santa Claus, IN. Lake Rudolph is very, very busy. We like it, though, depending on what you have in mind for that trip.

We've camped at Lieber State Park near Brazil, which is close to Cataract Falls.

Someone mentioned Harmonie State Park, but there's also camping within the city park of New Harmony.

If you're interested in crossing over into southern Illinois, there are 4 COEs and 1 state park at Rend Lake. On further south you can primitive camp within the Shawnee National Forest. Beautiful rock formations and trails.

  • Lincoln State Park...thumbs up...spacious sites, inexpensive, interesting museum and working Lincoln era farm.

Lake Rudolph....thumbs down....too noisy, literally one billion golf carts driven around by teens.
  • I live between Evansville and Louisville. I frequently go to Lincoln State park which is pretty nice, water & electric with a dump site. Some spots unlevel but still decent. If you like fancy there is Lake Rudolph next to holiday world but is kinda pricey, has golf carts and all that and theme park next door. Farther west I am not really sure, diamond lake I heard is ok.
