We were at Bosque Birdwatchers RV Park in January and Bill said he planned to close it after the cranes left. The phone number is sometimes answered and sometimes not, so keep trying. You could also call the Visitors Center at the Wildlife Refuge and ask them if it is still open. They have to drive right by it to work every day, so should know if it is closed.
Finally, a new RV park was opening just north of Bill's place when we were there in January. I don't remember the name, but seems like it was also a retail location--an art gallery, antique shop, or something like that. There are also supposed to be several campsites on some BLM land near I-25 in San Antonio, but I don't know where they are. Perhaps you could call the nearest BLM office to find the location.
I mentioned to several birder friends in Denver that Bosque Birdwatchers was for sale, but couldn't find any who were interested in buying it and moving to San Antonio, NM. Imagine that! How could anyone not want to move to the birthplace of, not only Paris Hilton's great-grandfather Conrad, but, more importantly, the green chili cheeseburger? Just imagine too Robert Oppenheimer, General Groves, and the boys stopping there for a quick green chili burrito breakfast while on their way back to Los Alamos after the Trinity test. ;)
