Chama New Mexico

Has someone been camping to Chama New Mexico? if so How did you like it. We have been to Santa Fe NM but not around the Chama area. We will be leaving in 3 more weeks. We already have reservations so I am not worried about a place to stay I would appreciate if you could let me know which points of interest are worth the visit. We We don't mind the driving around so go for it. Thanks
  • Staying in Chama is very limiting unless you want to drive many miles each day for siteseeing. Chama is tiny with only a few stores/restaurants. The railroad trip is nice in fall but otherwise you'll only see black smoke and green trees. Many folks like it though so it must just be us. We did enjoy the Georgia O'Keefe area but we stayed nearby at Abiquiqu Lake - Corps of Engineers which was more centrally located. It's a very nice park. Have a good trip and hope you like it!
  • I drove through there a few years ago and they had the highest price fuel on my entire trip, so top off before you get there.
