I've stayed at the Mt. Pleasant KOA a couple of times. Its off of US 17 about 8 miles northeast of the bridge. Nice roomy sites and far enough off of busy US 17 to avoid road noise. Next to a huge lake. The entrance road is on the left about 8 miles from the bridge. FHUs including cable and WIFI.
BTW, if you miss it and drive your 'C' with a toad attached over the bridge into downtown Charleston during rush hour, you won't enjoy it. Don't ask how I know.
If you're interested, visit Patriot's Point in Charleston. Home of the WWII Aircraft Carrier Saratoga. Its a museum now. Not many of them left.

We like James Island OK but the low limbs on the streets that get you there are aggravating. Another good place is KOA (and I usually DO NOT like KOA) in Mt Pleasant across the Cooper River from Charleston. Lakeside sites with FHU and cable. Most of our favorite eating places are in Mt Pleasant and around Shem Creek.

Christmas light show begins in November. Make your reservations soon. They fill up quick. Last year they hosted the Tin Can Club the first weekend in November. Saw some awesome restorations.

In St. Augustine I'd suggest Bryn Mawr RV Resort. It's secure and right on the ocean only a short walk from your site to the beach. We stayed there a couple of years ago and it's a nice place. Also within a short drive to the historic district.

James Island for the win!!! We go to Florida in February usually, and stop at Savannah on the way down and Charleston on the way home. Stayed at JICP every time in Charleston and LOVE it. Nice large park, quite convenient to downtown, beautiful setting, bathrooms are very good.

You cannot go wrong at JICP.

Oak Plantation is nice; James Island is just better.

James Island. Been there for week stays the past two winters.

Did anyone mention James Island? :) By far the best choice for the Charleston area, and you're in the historic district in about 15 minutes. Love the park and Charleston as well.
