"Cheap" fuel prices

Although I would have made the trip anyway, it certainly has helped save a few bucks on our current trip. We've been down to Florida, then to Brunswick, GA and now we're visiting my sister in Salisbury, MD and will head home to Ohio in a week. I'd say the average price per gallon has been pretty close to $2...a little higher for a couple of stops, and a bit lower at many.

We just got home from a 112 day trip to AZ. We paid $1.67 for diesel in Yuma, AZ
It is $2.29 here in Marysville, WA

I've seen a number of predictions that after a rise they will turn around and drop, possibly even more than before because Iranian oil (3.5 MGD) is coming on the market and the Saudis swear they will not decrease production. If the prices got to $40/BBL then shut down fracking sites would become profitable again and go back into production.

Price of fuel is still better now than it was some time ago. Wasn't THAT long ago it was reaching the $4.00 mark. Yes, those prices slow us way down. We didn't travel as far, but we still camped as much. We stayed local in those days. That's when we made it our goal to camp at ever Indiana State Park and every Indiana State Recreation camp ground. (and we have).

Last couple years, we were able to branch out again. A few trips to Florida, one planned this Summer for Kansas City, Mo, Branson, Mo, and Wisconsin again. Hope prices stay reasonably low, but we've made plans so we're going regardless.

We still do week-end local camps also. Like I said, prices go up, don't travel as far. Prices go down, take advantage and launch out. Simple. But we go almost every week-end during the Summer, to somewhere!

The price of fuel does not affect our travel plans. It does not cause us to do any more or less. Since retiring 10 years ago, we averaged 5 to 6,000 miles per year depending on what part of the country and Canada we wanted to explore. :)

In the scheme of things, life is short not to enjoy it all that we can. I worked too long and hard not to enjoy our retirement. ;)

If there ever comes a time when I can't afford fuel, by then we will call it quits and give up on our camping excursions. :(

Doesn't effect our plans other than in the back of my mind that it may just cost a little bit less.

I would rather see gas prices a bit higher, then the stock market might be a bit better.

We have gone from 1.35 to 2.09 in the last 4-5 weeks. It isn't going to be cheap for long. The price doesn't affect our plans, only our budget. We did 7500 miles two years ago, 4000 miles last year and am doing another 4000 miles this year. More than half of our miles this year will be in CA and I fully expect an average of $4.00 per gallon.
