Cherrystone Campground

Cherrystone in Cape Charles, Va.

They had a booth at a Raleigh RV show many years ago. We liked what we saw but we never made it. Then a few years ago, their reviews were looking pretty rough.

Now the reviews seem to be getting better. We just want to try something new. Thinking about a trip in May. Can't decide on Cherrystone or Carowinds again.

We don't mind some "hecticness". Our 15 year old son will be with us. But will we be bored? Is there enough to do there while the water is too cold to go swimming? We'd rather find someplace with fun things to do versus chilling out reading a book or something. We can do that here at the state parks.
  • The tornado killed a family who were tent camping, It was very tragic, a tree fell, there was very little warning from the national weather service, a few minutes at best, it happened in the morning, It certainly was not Cherrystone's fault, We were at Cherrystone a few weeks after the Tornado. Since then they have built a very nice memorial, took up a collection for the family. Tragedy can strike anywhere.
