As usual when I have question, I turn to you guys (this forum).We live in Houston, Texas and plan a week long trip (stay) in Asheville, NC to visit the Biltmore and surrounding area. We have located, from the web, this campground "ASHEVILLE BEAR CREEK RV PARK". It is a long drive from Houston to Asheville, NC only to be disappointed in our "home" for a week.My question is: Have any of you stayed there or know anything about this park and can give me an opinion/review of this park? We have a 42ft coach.Or do you know of a better place there in Asheville? This is our first trip to North Carolina and want it to be memorable. Thank you for your help.

Well....we've been to North Carolina one time and stayed one night. It just so happens we stayed at that park. It's on a hill and kind of a weird drive up into the campground, but no access issues. We were on the main loop which had sights on both sides of the road, climbing a hill. We stayed there in a 36' DP and had a nice sight.We had intended to do our laundry while their, but it was a 2-3 hour wait to get a machine. Seemed like a common problem. We went into town and did laundry at a laundromat. Other than the laundry issue, it was a nice park.

Becker, we have been going to Asheville almost every year since 2009 staying in the motorhome some and also at the Biltmore Hotel. We have started making it a yearly adventure. Our first RV trip in 2009, we stayed at the Rutledge Lake RV Park in Fletcher, which was nice at the time, not sure of the condition now. In 2014, we stayed at Campfire Lodgings which is excellent. Since Campfire Lodging was full this past year, in 2015 we stayed at the KOA in Candler which was also very nice and near the interstate. We may very well stay at the KOA this year when we go in August/September. I really liked the location.I wish the Biltmore would build a nice RV park on their property. They have just added a new hotel near the winery which will be opening very soon.The long steep drive to Campfire Lodging is a little tight but doable. Once on top of the ridge, it is absolutely beautiful. We were in our Dynasty at the time. Good luck, the Biltmore is an amazing place.MM.

X2. But keep in mind, RVParkReviews can be confusing. One guy says the park is great...the next guy says it's a garbage dump. (The "garbage dump" guy might be the owner of another nearby campground.....LOL)Another source of park quality is Trailer-Life RV Park Guide...for around 10 bucks at Camping World.

I don't know when you are planning on going to Asheville nor if you have dogs. Four Paws Kingdom is where we stay every year. It is a short drive to Asheville, Chimney Rock, The Cove, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is big rig friendly and very easy to get too. It is clean and well kept. I don't think it reopens until March. I suggest checking the website.

"gonesouth".....This is an old post and I was just rereading it. Before I got to your post, I was thinking that the reviews in this post are just as "all over the place" as some of the ones on RV Park Reviews. As an example, I had a 36' DP and was towing my 4 door Silverado back then and found the place to be plenty spacious to move around in my coach. It was raining, yet the site was easy to back in, in one shot. I know some people need a football field to park and others don't, so something as simple as what's accessible is different with everyone's vision of what a park is or should be.

We own a small motel so I have thoughts on reviews. They are only as good as the reviewer and some let their lack of coffee influence what they say. We run about 8.5 out of 10 annually, but sometimes we get a guest who gives us a really low rating for reasons that have no basis in anything we did. For that reason I would give posts on the forum some credence if I've learned to respect that poster, but none for someone on a review site I know nothing about.

Ashville is a great place as is the Biltmore. We stayed at Ashville KOA and would stay there again

Becker, if you and your family want a nice dinner. Across from the Biltmore entrance is the Grand Bohemian Hotel. The Red Stag Grill is excellent. It's upscale and they have valet parking at the entrance.

The downtown area is very 'Bohemian'..... lots of young folk around. Isa's Bistro is also really good and there is valet parking at the hotel next door (attached).

I know you've already decided, so I'm throwing this out there, we stayed at a really nice luxury rv resort 50 miles south of Ashville called Mountain Falls. Beautiful place but it's all the way up on top of the mountain. Spectacular Veiws! You can walk the golf cart path around the resort really nice.
Probably to far away though, but look them up. I think it's Piska Forest and DuPont State Park nearby. Also Brevard is a nice town.

12'4" clearance? Be careful here in the mid Atlantic and Northeast States. We have some old highways that still have overpasses from the 1940's. Stay on the interstates here as much as possible.

As I have noted I have stayed there a few times. It is tight, but what isn't in the East? We need 12'4" clearance and never had a problem with tree limbs, nor did the other coaches we were with.

I know the area but have not stayed there. I just looked at Google Earth street view and you can actually 'drive' into the park (or perhaps through?) Looks like paved streets and gravel sites. Sites look tight and the trees limbs look a little low for a big rig.
If you already have reservations, then I would not cancel and look farther. Like a lot of places we have stayed, you will likely only sleep there and will be doing a lot of touring. That is a great area to tour
