Chief Hosa Campground 40 miles from Denver?

I haven't stayed there since the 1990's. Last trip there most sites were "migrant workers" or such that seemed to have taken up residence there for the season.

I've moved on to other areas.

I've stayed there a couple times on my yearly vacation out west. It was an overnighter as I was headed to Utah. No complaints. I began to loathe driving I70 on the way out west and started taking different 2 lane routes. That was many years ago.

This place is at over 7000ft so wa also wondering what the road is like getting up there!

Never stayed there but the CG is about 1.000' off I-70 -- way to close to the Interstate for me.

Are you looking to commute into the City? if so you might look at some other options like Dakota Ridge -- Jeffco Fairgrounds or Golden City Park.

The roads is fine. Actually it is just off I 70 with an access road from that freeway. The web site should tell you the exit.
