City Campgrounds

We recently have stayed at several city campgrounds that were very nice & reasonably priced. Many city campgrounds and not listed in any of the guides. Anybody have a good source or tips for finding these city campgrounds? We have found some that were free for the 1st few days, some as low as $5.00 and none over $30.00.

  • Our favorite City CG that we stayed at was Emma Long in Austin TX
  • Were the ones where you stayed listed in RVParkReviews.com?

If not, you could enter them yourself. I've done it and it just takes a few minutes to include the number of sites, phone number and other info. Then they'll be shown for future travelers who may be searching for a place. I entered a town-owned park for a remote, tiny village in Newfoundland once that now is easier for other people to find.

We recently went to Winston-Salem, NC and found a very nice county-owned RV park through that site with extensive facilities, very close to the city, including a full hookup RV campground that even had cable TV. (Tanglewood Park.)

Do you use the Allstays app (small fee), where you enter the city of interest? Great for tablets like ipad. The map zooms in to the location you searched and shows symbols you can click on for campgrounds of all kinds - Nps, State, private, etc. After I find one, I look them up on RV park reviews to get a little input on the quality of the place.
