Routing help is dependent on your likes/dislikes. Are you in a hurry to get there? Does a few extra miles bother you? Do you like freeways or secondary roads? Is Spokane a destination on the way or is it a day trip from Coeur d'Alene? I live in Sacto too and have done this trip several times. PM me and we can talk.
P.S. I second Blackwell Island (eat at the the round restaurant on the water nearby). Take a look at the "Ride the Hiawatha Trail" as a fun adventure.
