In 1988 I was packing horses in Wyoming during the Yellowstone Fires. It was a trip that was planned way in advance so we went anyway. We were in the Absaroka Range just east and down wind of Yellowstone Park. During the day the sun in Cody was bright red. By time we headed into the high elevation country there was no smoke at all for a solid week until we went back towards town.
There will still be plenty of color in Colorado.
