Colorado SP winter camping

Anyone aware/recommend a Colorado SP that is open in the winter that still has shower and toilet accommodations?

We were at Mueller SP this summer, and while they have a few sites for winter camping and flush toilets, the shower facilities are closed till April.

  • Mueller does have winter camping available with electric and they do have flush toilets available, just no showers of dump facilities.

I guess we could boil some water to wash our nasty parts.

+1. St. Vrain and Chatfield are two of the State Parks in the Greater Denver area that state specifically on the website that the shower/restroom facilities are open year round. Many of the parks still have electric available and some have central water sources available year round, notably those at the lower elevations and on the plains areas.

Many of the State Parks are open year round and offer camping sites on a first come/first served basis. Not a whole lot of competition at most locations, but you'd be surprised at the number of winter campers, both at lower elevations as well as in the mountains.

Here's the State Parks website if you'd like to research more:

  • Check on Rifle State Park as it is at a much lower elevation and may have running water all winter.
