When I read what MoHo you have I withdrew our favorite campground on the river. Beacon Rock CG is just too small for you, there is an annex a little west with bigger sites but it's sorta bland. Beacon Rock is a place you should visit, you would be following Lewis and Clark and thousands of Indians to the top. The dam is fun and well worth a look. If you would like a beer, try Full Sail Brewing Company in Hood River(but with the towed only). I would try and go around the point at Hood River in the morning, in the afternoon even your rig would be moved around a bit. You can read all my posts back to when I joined the Forums and Skyline Bridge in Buffalo and the bend at Hood River are the only two places I don't like to drive. When you see all the windsurfers in the afternoon while you're trying to stand up you'll know why.
As far as which side and campgrounds, I can't say much as we first camped there in tents and only at Beacon Rock.
