Columbia River Gorge Washington State Campground?

We are going to be in Washington and Oregon in Mid May. After we complete hwy 101 on the coast of Oregon we plan to head east at Astoria. We look to run along the Columbia River on hwy 30 as it should...

One thing no one has mentioned, is the bridges that you may need or want to cross on the Columbia. Other than the interstate bridges, they are 2 lane with meeting traffic. Most are doable with a rig of your size and width, BUT, one to stay off of is the Hood River bridge. If you were to meet an 18 wheeler on that one, goodbye mirror or other stuff!!! It is just barely wide enough for 8ft rigs!! Better to cross on "Bridge Of The Gods" west of Hood River or the Dalles bridge.
