One thing no one has mentioned, is the bridges that you may need or want to cross on the Columbia. Other than the interstate bridges, they are 2 lane with meeting traffic. Most are doable with a rig of your size and width, BUT, one to stay off of is the Hood River bridge. If you were to meet an 18 wheeler on that one, goodbye mirror or other stuff!!! It is just barely wide enough for 8ft rigs!! Better to cross on "Bridge Of The Gods" east of Hood River or the Dalles bridge.
How long are these bridges? Are they short enough that a semi might wait till you cross or do they just blow by you and don't worry about that happens?
