If it is in NORTH TEXAS (Wichita Falls i.e. area) the Wichita Mtn Wildlife Refuge in Medicine Park OKLA just some 50 miles north of Wichita Falls is a great cool mtn atmosphere type camping spot. Closest small mtns to the Red River area I guess... There is a on-site camp ground called DORIS CAMP which is very nice.
They have both electric and tent type camping there... One drawback however is the entrance gate closes at 10PM each night so if you was to get late from working you might not be able to get inside the camp ground.
This is us camping on the tent camping side off the power grid using our batteries and inverter for power..
